The great Theoretical Physicist Franco Selleri, in his book "weak relativity", writes:
" In contemporary physics a problem that normally would be considered solved, often is reopened and re-discussed again and again. This way of doing stimulated the ironical pen of at least one contemporary author . If you are convinced that there is no reason to laugh about physics, you should read the satires by Francesco Fucilla. They occupy 3 books, which have been printed in Cosenza (Southern Italy) - his hometown - in English by a local publisher [17-16]. Today Fucilla lives in London with his family. He is a man with thousand interests. in Geophysics he crossed the equator many times always in search of interesting minerals. Actually, besides a geophysicist, he is a philosopher, an inventor, an industrialist and a financial expert.
In his satires, fantastic problems of real and surreal physics are discussed by two famous contemporary physicists, Penrose (P) and Hawking (H). Their standpoints, as represented in the satires, might easily appear to be described ironically and in a way it is certainly so, but there is another point to consider, the fact that it is difficult to find a statement in the text on which one can be sure that the real R and H would not agree. In short, it is realistic irony.
Reading the text it becomes clear that Fucilla reports some real characteristic statements of P and H inserting them in the satiric dialogue. For example H says: "Well ... Yes ... we do have some uncertainties, but we must never stop dreaming!!!" To the same physicist is attributed a short parenthetical statement always repeated when the discussion leads to pronounce the word "time": "Whatever that is !!!"
Anyway, time is the main argument of these satirical considerations, but it is more the time of science fiction than of science. H and P discuss at length about the travels to the past and to the future. There are strong objections against time traveling. Example; Had any one future generation traveled to the past, we would now know it because we would have observed their transit through our present! The negative conclusion is strengthened by observing that we remember the past but not at all the future "
